The vision which called St Teilo’s church into being was that of the need to minister to the families in the new estates that grew up in this area in the 1950s. In those days, it began with setting up a Sunday School in the home of the Saunders family.
Our Sunday Munch Service takes place every Sunday at 12.30pm. It begins with a short Prayer Service lasting about 15mns and includes two simple songs, a Bible reading and prayers.
After the Service, lunch is served which includes a main course, a desert, followed by tea and coffee. There is no set charge for the meal but a donation box is available for people to make a contribution.
After the meal, individuals and families stay on for fellowship and play. Sunday Munch usually ends around 2pm. It is clear that those who attend find it very enjoyable and look forward to it each week.
Today, the ministry and outreach to families continues. Times and needs have changed and so has the format of our ministry and outreach but the same vision remains: to make visible through word and action the love that God has for each person.
Parents & Tots Groups
With the aid of financial help from the Austin Bailey Foundation, St Teilo’s helps to fund the work of the Penplas Family Centre in their work with families in the community. In particular, two sessions are offered each week during Term Time for Parents & Tots.
Tuesday at 9.30am Tea & Toast
An informal gathering for parents/carers and toddlers in which there is time for chat and play.
Thursday at 10.30am with the option of Family Lunch
A parent & toddler group which extends over lunch time
So as to offer families the opportunity to share in a two course meal. The aim of the lunch is to promote healthy eating so recipe cards are also provided so that they can be cooked at home.
All of the activities in these weekly sessions are planned so as to encourage parent and child interaction. An opportunity for families to spend time playing together in a safe and stimulating environment. Parent and toddler and Family Lunch are the perfect opportunity for families to leave their homes, spend quality time together and with their peers, learn through play and gain support from qualified experienced staff.
